Week 2 - Q1

1). Consider the social constructionist perspective.  How do we "build worlds" through communication?  Think of some ideas we talk about in our culture that may not exist in other cultures.  How do these concepts contribute to our happiness or success (or the lack of these) in our culture?

The social constructionist perspective is where communication is a process where people use the tools that their culture provides and creates a representations of reality. It also empathizes the relationship between communication and reality. Having a social constructie perspective will help "build worlds" by using the tools that one was taught through their culture to communicate. In my culture, I was raised to communicate in a very respective way with people, especially those who are older than me. It is considered "rude" to not say "sir" or "ma'am" (in spanish) when being spoken to by an adult. The reality of that is that any words that we speak and effect the perspective others create for myself. This example contributes to the well-being and happiness in my life. I communicate in a very respective manner and in a way that sets others to know that they will always perceive me as being a respective person.
